Submitting Your Manuscript to JGER

Journal of Global Education and Research (JGER) receives manuscript submissions electronically through its online submission system. The system facilitates the submission of original and revised manuscripts, the peer-review process, and communication among authors, editors, and reviewers.

The Journal of Global Education and Research is an international, open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal. There are no fees charged for manuscript submission, article processing, publication, or access to published articles.

All manuscripts must be original work that has not been published elsewhere and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publication.

As a general rule, JGER does not accept a manuscript with an overall similarity index greater than 20%. In addition, similarity from any individual source should not exceed 2%. Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software to verify the originality of the content.

Authors retain copyright in their work. Following publication, articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) License. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources.

Formatting Requirements

JGER has no general formatting requirements for manuscripts at the initial submission stage. However, manuscripts accepted for publication must comply with the journal's final manuscript preparation requirements.

Authors should consult the journal's Final Manuscript Preparation Guidelines and other applicable revision and final-preparation instructions when preparing revised and accepted manuscripts.

The final manuscript must be prepared as a Microsoft Word document in accordance with JGER's manuscript preparation requirements.

Editorial Processing

There are six steps in the Journal of Global Education and Research review process:

a) Initial Editorial Check

After receiving a manuscript, the editorial team checks its composition and organization against the journal's Author Guidelines to ensure that all required components are included. Because JGER follows double-blind peer review, the editorial team also verifies that the manuscript has been appropriately anonymized and does not contain identifying information such as author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, project numbers, or funding information. Document metadata should also be anonymized. The scholarly quality of the manuscript is not assessed at this stage.

b) Subject Area Editor Screening

Following the initial check, the manuscript is sent to a Subject Area Editor with expertise in the relevant field. The Subject Area Editor evaluates whether the manuscript is appropriate for JGER and whether it demonstrates sufficient originality and relevance. A manuscript may be desk rejected at this stage without proceeding to external peer review.

c) Reviewer Selection

If the manuscript passes editorial screening, the Subject Area Editor invites qualified reviewers with appropriate subject-matter expertise. Reviewer selection takes into account relevant expertise, institutional affiliations, potential conflicts of interest, availability, and JGER's international perspective.

Potential reviewers consider the invitation in relation to their expertise, conflicts of interest, and availability before accepting or declining. Additional invitations or reminders may be issued as necessary until the required number of reviewer commitments is obtained. JGER normally seeks three reviewer commitments for a manuscript.

d) Peer Review

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript and provide recommendations and comments to the Subject Area Editor and author(s), normally within 3–4 weeks. Reviewers are expected to provide detailed, constructive evaluations and may recommend acceptance, rejection, or revision.

If reviewer recommendations differ substantially, the editor may invite an additional reviewer before reaching a decision. The Subject Area Editor then determines whether to accept the submission, request revision, or reject the manuscript.

e) Editorial Decision

The Subject Area Editor sends the decision to the author(s), together with relevant anonymized reviewer comments. Reviewers may also be informed of the outcome of the review process. Accepted manuscripts may undergo one or more rounds of revision before final acceptance.

f) Revision, Final Decision, and Production

If a manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to production. If it is rejected, the author(s) receive the editorial decision and relevant comments.

When a major revision is requested, authors are expected to revise the manuscript and provide a detailed response addressing reviewers' comments. The Subject Area Editor checks the revised manuscript and accompanying responses before determining whether it should proceed to another round of peer review.

Minor revisions may be evaluated directly by the Subject Area Editor. The review and revision process continues until a final acceptance or rejection decision is reached. The final version of an accepted manuscript is reviewed by the editorial team before publication.
